He is a mechanical engineering graduate. He has had a distinguished career of about 40 years with the DAE, working almost on all facets of the Indian Nuclear Power Programme, from design and construction, to commissioning and operation. He has been a part of the core team of architects of India’s current 540 MWe and 700 MWe PHWRs (Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors). During his career with NPCIL, he has held important positions such as Project Director (Kaiga Atomic Power Project) and Sr. Executive Director (Technical). After leaving NPCIL, he joined M/S Gammon India ltd in 2004, as President (Operations) and he served in this capacity till Mach 2010. He is a fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering. In recognition of his contribution, he was awarded Padma Shri (a civilian award) in 2002 by the President of India and Homi Bhabha Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005 by the Indian Nuclear Society.
He is a mechanical engineering graduate with a master’s degree in financial management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. He has overall experience of more than 37 years in a wide range of roles in the nuclear power sector covering technical, commercial and financial management functions. Earlier in his career with NPCIL he worked in the areas of design, design-coordination and project management before he switched over to financial management functions. He has functioned as Design Coordinator, Project Engineer and Project Coordinator of various nuclear power projects in India. Later in his career, he worked in the areas of project costing, financial and commercial management. He has contributed significantly to finalizing the methodology for fixing nuclear power tariff. He has held positions in NPCIL, such as Director (Economic & Commercial) and Director (Corporate Finance). He has been a member of the Regional Electricity Boards in the Southern, Western and Northern Electricity Regions of India representing the DAE. He has presented many papers in international seminars including the World Energy Conference on the economic issues of energy.
He is an Electronics & Communication Engineering graduate with a post Graduate Diploma in project management. He is a Certified Projects Director by International Projects Management Association. He has overall experience of more than 37 years in nuclear power sector and has worked in construction, commissioning, operation & maintenance and quality assurance functions. He has worked in technical and managerial positions across various PHWR sites in the country. He is also experienced in pre-project activities including technical studies and statutory clearances of many new sites for which the government of India had given In-principle approval. Prior to his superannuation from service, he was the Project Director of Gorakhpur Haryana Anu Vidyut Pariyojana, a nuclear power project consisting of four units of 700 MWe capacity each with indigenous technology.
He is a mechanical engineering graduate from I.I.T Delhi and former Associate Director(Nuclear and Conventional Process Systems) of NPCIL. He has many years of experience in design and engineering of reactor process systems and preparation of specifications for process systems equipment, techno-commercial evaluation of bids and approval of manufacturers’ drawings and documents. After leaving NPCIL,he was associated with the work related to preparation of Intelligent P&IDs and 3D Modelling for KAPP-3&4. He has made a presentation in May 2025 on “Small Modular Reactors in Global Power Generation Perspectives and Prospects” at the World Utilities Conference in Abu Dhabi.
She is a Chartered Accountant and has good experience in financial matters including corporate finance.
